The 16th of April was a wonderful day for the people of Fodzoku as a Police Station was commissioned to serve the security needs of the inhabitants and its environs. At the commissioning was the District Chief Executive of North Tongu District - Hon. Richard Collins Arku, the Superintendent of Police (North Tongu District) – Peter Kamassah, The Paramount Chief of Fodzoku – Togbe Affum Asare III, Police Officers, Staff of the District Assembly, Assembly Members and People of Fodzoku.
At the occasion the Superintendent of Police reiterated the importance of the police station, saying it is to secure the safety of people so they could go about their daily activities without hindrance. He also spoke about the core functions of the police service such as, crime prevention, crime detection and apprehension of criminals and preparing them for prosecution. He stressed for collaboration between citizens of Fodzoku and the police and thanked the DCE for North Tongu, Hon. Richard Collins Arku for his great effort in building the Police Station.
On his part, Hon. Richard Collins Arku said the facility was completed within three months to fulfill the promise he made to Togbe Affum Asare III during his familiarization tour. He stressed on his desire to make Fodzoku as well as other communities in the district a much better place. The Police station he said was to serve Fodzoku, Torgoorme and Ogoli communities with an estimated population of about 10,000. The DCE added that more police stations would be constructed in other towns in the area and the district as a whole.
The next speaker at the commissioning was the Paramount Chief of Fodzoku Traditional Area, Togbe Affum Asare III. He stated how excited he was for the completion of the Police Station. He said a police station is a symbol of security and that he was justified for lobbying for the construction of the Station when electric cable theft became rampant in the area. He then thanked the Honorable DCE for North Tongu for making the Police Station a reality. He said he and his people will support the Station in whatever way they can, to make it one of the best in the Volta Region.
The Assembly Member of Fodzoku electoral area, Mr, Moses Klu thanked the District Chief Executive and the Staff of the District Assembly for their good work. It was clear that the Police Station at Fodzoku will go a long way in improving security at Fodzoku and the District as a whole.
